In June, President Obama and his administration decided to place funds in reducing medical malpractice. 3 million dollars of the funds are being distributed throughout five New York City Hospitals. The 3 year plan is a part of the funds directed to the implementation of a NYC judge’s approach to medical malpractice, called judge-directed negotiations.
Beth Israel Medical Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, and Montefiore Medical Center will focus their medical malpractice reduction efforts on obstetrics. The fifth hospital, New York Presbyterian Hospital, is focusing on preventing surgical errors.
The program will use judges to express concerns between hospitals, doctors, and patients.
